Last week was cold and this week it’s so warm! Colorado is so unpredictable. It’s something I, as a Minnesotan, just can’t get used to. We took full advantage of the warm weather and took some extra recesses at the end of the day so we could soak up that vitamin D. We’re all getting pretty excited for tomorrow, our 100th day of school! We will be going around to different classes to do different projects that involve the number 100.
REMINDERS:
CLOTHING: Colorado winters are unpredictable. Please make sure you send your child to school with a heavy coat, gloves, and a hat every day. The weather changes frequently and it’s good to be prepared for any kind of weather. Snow pants and boots are much appreciated as well. Your child likes to play in the snow and doesn’t enjoy wet pants during the school day.
RED READING FOLDERS: Please continue reading with your child daily. When you read to or your child reads to you, please color in an object in your child’s reading log. At the end of the month, students receive a little prize and a coupon for a free personal pizza. The books that are in your child’s red reading folder every week are books they can read with a little bit of help from you! Red folders are due every Monday.
SNACK: Many students are forgetting their snacks at home. Please remember to send your child with a healthy snack every day, so they can be energized and maintain focus up until lunch.
ADDRESS AND NUMBER: Please work with your child to memorize their address and phone number. This will be assessed on our March report card and it’s an important life skill.
VALENTINE’S DAY: Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. We will be having a Valentine ’s Day party on Friday February 13 from 2:30-3:15. Parents are welcome to come join us for the festivities! Please let me know if you will be coming.
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES: Thursday February 12 and Tuesday February 17 are set aside for 2nd semester parent-teacher conferences. Regardless of whether you need a conference or not, I need slips returned from every parent. I look forward to talking to you further about your child. If you have anything specific you want me to know or ask, feel free to e-mail me in advance, so our time during the conference is well spent. Please fill out and return the form by February 2.
