I’ve had another lovely week with your kids. They are working so hard and getting into so many routines. It’s been fun to watch them blossom and bloom. I’m getting a good grasp on where your child is at academically, so I’m really looking forward to talking to all of you at conferences so we can talk through ways to support and help your child continue to grow and thrive in school!
We got to meet Mayor Troxell yesterday. The kids had a wonderful time learning more about how he helps keep our community running. All in all we’ve met a police officer, fire fighter, and the mayor! We’ve had a ton of fun digging into what it means to be a part of a community.
FIELD TRIP: We are going on a field trip to the Environmental learning center on Friday October 13. Permission forms went home last week and need to be returned by next Friday October 6. We got a grant from the Bohemian Foundation, and they have generously covered the cost of your child’s bus fare and fare for the ELC program! If you have the time and wanted to send your thanks to them, you can send your thanks to Sara Marancowicz at the Bohemian Foundation, 262 E. Mountain Ave., Fort Collins, CO 80524. We’ll be sending thank you cards as a class. This foundation has made it possible for us to go on so many free field trips over the years and we’re super thankful for them!
CHAPERONE: I have room for one more chaperone to ride the bus with us on the field trip on Friday October 13. Email me if you’re interested: [email protected].
RED FOLDERS: Red homework folders go home every week. Your child is required to do a math page every night, spelling practice, read a book and practice sight words or CVC words. It should take no longer than 30 minutes. Folders go home every Monday and are due back on Fridays. Your child gets their Friday fun if all their work is finished. I do not give homework on the weekends. If the homework is taking longer than 30 minutes, simply stop at the 30 minute mark, and send me an e-mail letting me know it’s taking your child longer than the time allotted. That helps me know what I can help support your child with in school. I don’t want your child doing more than 30 minutes at home! It’s important they have time with family and time to play.
COMPUTER LOGIN: Help your child practice their computer login/password by the end of September.
Walk-a-thon: Our school Walk-a-Thon is coming up on October 6th. I am excited to enjoy a day of running and walking laps in the fresh air with my class! Parents are welcome to come run with us. We’ll be doing it during our specials time (2:30-3:15).
CONFERENCES: I sent home a conference form last week for you to fill out the preference of when you want to come in. If you have an older or younger sibling in the school, try to mark either October 18 or 19 as your preferences because those are the days we can schedule your children’s conferences back to back. I really want to work with your schedule. It’s super important we get to meet and touch base about your child’s academic and social growth. I will be sending home your child’s conference time next week.
NO SCHOOL: There is no school tomorrow Friday September 29.
