This week was so delightfully fantastic! We were all very excited about the snow. Mrs. Hendricks and Mrs. Woods, our principle and vice-principle brought us popcorn for the first snowfall of the year! We were not so excited about the indoor recess. I was tempted to sneak the kids outside when one of my little students brought a carrot in for a snowman! 19 little children cooped up in a classroom = chaos! We did find ways to get our energy out. Youtube videos of wii fit games were super helpful. Ice skating to music around the classroom on paper plates was equally as helpful.
REMINDERS:
BOOK ORDER: Book orders are due back Monday, November 17, 2014. You can order the books online. I have a link from my website www.mssandberg.weebly.com I am not accepting late book orders, so please get them into me on time.
SNOW: Well it got cold this week! Please make sure your child comes to school wearing clothes they can wear outside to recess- Hat, mittens, scarf, winter coats, and boots. I would switch out your child’s spare set of clothes with warmer clothes! We go outside often in the winter, and your child can sometimes get their pants soaking wet. Shorts and t-shirts probably won’t cut it for clothes to change into!
RED READING FOLDERS: Please continue reading with and to your child and having your child read to you at least 5 days a week for 10 minutes. The reading books I send home with your child are books at or a little bit above your child’s reading level that have to do with science or social studies topics we are learning about. On Friday’s during free choice I am offering your child the opportunity to read their story to me. I will have an extra copy in the classroom, so don’t worry about sending the book back to school.
