I really enjoyed conferencing with you all last week. I love learning new things about your child. Thanks so much for your continued support. Next week we will focus on the letter /t/ and the magic word ‘see’. Your child may bring in an item from home that begins with that letter if they’d like. We have begun our new STEAM unit on Bats. In science lab, we learned about some types of bats and what they eat. If you stop by our classroom you can see some of our bats “hanging around”.
TRICK OR TREAT FOR UNICEF: Each year the kindergarten classes at Tavelli do several service learning projects. Our first project this year is Trick-or-Treat For UNICEF. This annual tradition of Kids Helping Kids by collecting donations, big and small, has raised more than $170 million since 1950 to help children around the world. Trick-or-Treat For UNICEF helps provide kids in need with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. You can find more information at trickortreatforunicef.org. If you would like to have your child participate in this project, please fill out the form included in your child's yellow Thursday folder
DONATIONS: We are officially in the “sick” season! We are short on hand sanitizer and we are kindly accepting donations.
AFTER SCHOOL ARRANGEMENTS: Please remember to send in a note with your child and also call the front office if your child’s after school routine is different. Thanks!
THURSDAY FOLDER: Parents please make sure you are looking at your child’s Thursday folder. It goes home on Thursday and should be returned Monday. Any papers that need to be returned to me should be placed in the folder. Otherwise it gets lost in your child’s backpack and I don’t receive it.
LIBRARY: We have library on Wednesday. Make sure your child returns their book.
READING LOGS: Reading with your child makes all the difference in the world continue to read with your child for 5-15 or more minutes at least 5 times a week and sign the date you read with your child in the orange October reading log.
EXTRA PRACTICE: The activities and books that go home in the Thursday folder are things you can do at home to reinforce what we do at school. We are done with Unit 2: Friends in our reading curriculum. I am sending home the corresponding activity book home for extra practice to reinforce reading concepts we have been working on.
