Goodness, it’s nice to have a healthy class! It’s never fun when we’re all sick, and it’s been a month of that. We’ve had a lovely week. Kids have been working really hard in all subjects. It’s been fun to see them sit down and get straight to work. We still have good moments of laughter when we get completely off task (like when I spilled hot coffee all over the front of my pants or when the kids challenged me to see how many words I could type per minute)! Those strange little brain breaks that happen during the day, do give us the energy and focus we need when it matters! I love being your child’s teacher. What a wonderful class!
Reminders
HOMEWORK FOLDER: Homework Folders are due tomorrow. The folder should only take about 20-30 minutes a night. Students should be doing about 5-10 minutes of Math IXL, 10 minutes of word practice (they can choose from the nonsense words, poem worksheet, spelling words, sight words, or sight word sentences) and 10-15 minutes of reading with you or another person.
VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY: Ryder’s mom is planning a Valentine’s Day party for February 14. If you’re interested in helping her out, or are available to come in that day, let me know by e-mailing me ([email protected]). Party details to come soon.
READING GOALS: We have new reading goals. Students who meet their reading goals will get a reward at the end of February. We have decided to eat our hot and cold lunches in the classroom and then bring games to play as a class. If your child meets their reading goal, they will get to bring their favorite game from home in and after we eat lunch in the classroom, we’ll have a game day.
5210 CHALLENGE: The schools on the move challenge purple sheet log is going home today. During the month of February students and staff will be tracking their 5210 habits with the goal of getting at least 60 checks to earn a t-shirt. Your child will be logging if they eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day, have 2 hours or less of recreational screen time, 1 hour or more of physical activity, and 0 sugary drinks!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful child with me!
Warmly,
Ms. Sandberg
