Here’s another weekly update! We’re getting back into our routines and structure of the day. I’ve been less lenient with giving points throughout the day. For example, we didn’t earn our pack up point as a class because many students forgot their water bottles, and to stack their chair. Some students said, “But, you didn’t remind us to do those things.” I told them they’re almost second graders, and I should have to remind them to do many things. I really want to instill independence in them. I’ve even retired myself from zipping coats and tying shoes. Anytime a student asks if I can do either of those, I tell them I’m retired and have them find a friend to help them out with it. It seems to be working, and they’re growing more independent. I honestly can’t believe it’s almost March. This year has gone by way too fast.

Reminders
LIBRARY: We have library every Tuesday. Please return the books you are finished with, so your child can check out new books.
READ ACROSS AMERICA: This Friday March 1, we are going to have a fun filled Read Across America Day. Your child can come to school dressed as their favorite book character. We are going to be reading a ton of books and doing some Dr. Seuss themed activities all day. If you have any Dr. Seuss books lying around I’d love to borrow them this week!
NEW VOLUNTEER: I wanted to try and get more parent involvement for my Friday Fun blocks. Do you have something you’re passionate about? Are you an expert in something? If so, I’ve added a new Friday Fun STEAM sign up on my monthly Volunteering time. If you want to come in and teach a lesson or do an activity that is in the realm of Science, Technology, Arts, and Math, we’d LOVE to have you in here. I am more than happy to help make sure the activities you plan are engaging for the kids. Some ideas include doing a science experiment, teaching the students some French, Spanish or another language, doing a fun art activity. I want to leverage your passions and expertise and I thought our Friday Fun block would be a great opportunity. I’ll continue doing it for the remainder of the school year. If you need ideas or help, I can totally work with you. It would be for an hour after lunch (12:15-1:15) and I will support you in any way I can. Feel free to tag team and coordinate with other parents in the class! The more the merrier is what I say! Along with that sign up, I still need tons of help with reading stations and weekly clerical help. Go to this page to sign up to Volunteer in our classroom: March Volunteering
NO SCHOOL: Monday March 4.
RESTAURANT NIGHT: Inspire community! Join us for this perfect winter's night out and cozy up to the city's best comfort food at the Denver Biscuit Company. DBC is donating back a whopping 30% to our great school on the 26th. This offer is good for food and beverage, and dine-in OR carry-out. PLEASE remember to mention Inspire to your server! I’m planning on coming around 6:00 PM! Hopefully I’ll see some of you there!
REPORT CARDS: Report cards are going home this week. I give grades on a 1-4 scale. 1 indicates your student is not meeting grade level expectations, 2 means your child is approaching/has partially met the standard expectations, 3 means your child has met the standard expectations, and 4 means your child has exceeded expectations or is above grade level if it is relevant in that subject area. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS: I’m sending home the March book orders in blue folders this Friday. They are due back by March 15. You can order books online by going to: Book orders
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS: Inspire will be starting after school enrichment classes this Spring! After school enrichments are a unique opportunity for your child to participate in a weekly program that focuses on their interest areas. Classes are once a week and go for 10 weeks. This Spring we will be offering a sports program, an art program, an interactive role-playing game program, and a Lego STEM program. Enrichments are available to ALL students at Inspire.
