My classroom has been invaded by Turkeys! And all of them are trying to hide by dressing up! Some turkeys tried to disguise themselves as mammals or insects, going so far as to put hair on their heads! Maybe the hunters won’t notice the feathers sticking out! So far I have Ninja, princess, clown, ballerina, bee, cow, mermaid, present, and spiderman turkeys! If you haven’t completed your child’s turkey with your child, they are due back by 11-14-13.
This week we wrapped up our unit on transportation. Next week in reading we begin Unit 4: Food. Our letter of the week will be /Nn/ and the high frequency word to. Your child may bring ONE thing from home that begins with the letter N on Tuesday.
LIBRARY: Library is Wednesday. Help your child remember to return their book.
STAR STUDENT: We have started doing star student in the classroom. Each child will have an opportunity to be star student of the week in my classroom. When your child’s week is coming up, I will send home a paper for your child to fill out in your child’s Thursday folder. Please help your child complete the paper and send it back to school on Monday. As a class, we will make a book for the star student of the week.
UNICEF TRICK OR TREAT: Kindergarteners donated $183.32 to UNICEF. This will buy protein biscuits ($1), a cocker ball ($6), bed nets ($20), vaccines for 50 kids ($35), high protein peanut paste ($70), or a bike to deliver medicines ($100).
EXTRA CLOTHES: With the weather changing, please be sure to check your child’s clothes in their backpack and make usre that it is appropriate for the weather. We do occasionally still need to pull those out.
BOOK ORDER: Book orders are due Monday, November 25, 2013. You can order books online.
READING LOGS: Please read with your child every day. It’s making a huge difference in the growth your child has made in reading. Thanks parents!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me. Have lovely weekend.
