I hope this letter finds you well. By the time you get this, I will be in Minnesota celebrating the wedding of my youngest sister. Your child is in good hands with our sub Ms. Vasquez. I am loving your kids more and more each day. We’re all getting to know each other, and learning has become so fun.
REMINDERS:
STUDENT ID: Most students have got their numbers memorized! Yay! If your child still doesn't have theirs memorized, please help your child practice his/her lunch (student ID) number.
BOOK TRUST: Please return the book trust forms. If your child is on free and reduced lunch, you are eligible and it’s such a great opportunity!
TAVELLI’S TIGER WORLD CELEBRATION! Thursday, September 18, 5:00-7:00 PM--Tiger World is turning 20! Please join us for an evening on the playground to recognize staff and volunteers who built Tiger World 20 years ago.
VOLUNTEERS: I will be contacting parents about volunteering in the classroom next week when I get back. We will start with volunteers in October. If you haven’t done so and you would like to volunteer in the class, please turn in the volunteer form. You also need to register online at: https://www.psdschools.org/partnership-and-volunteer-center/volunteers. If you don’t do that registration, I am legally unable to allow you to volunteer.
FAMILY PROJECT: Please return your families by Monday. J
LIBRARY: We have library on Wednesday. Make sure your child returns their library book.
READING RED FOLDERS: Please remember to read with your child for at least 10 minutes a night. This will really help your child become a lifelong learner and gives you quality time with your child. When you read with your child, make sure to have your child color in a hat for each book read. Reading logs are due back at the end of the month. Keep the green reading logs in your child’s folder so I can place stickers on the hats! Practicing the sight words, letters and letter sounds for 10 min., or reading a chapter in a book counts for coloring in a hat. Return the red folders every Monday so I can place books or activities for your child.

This week we went outside and traced Layla’s shadow. We talked about how the sun gives us heat. In the winter we will go outside and trace Layla’s shadow again to see if the sun is in the same place at the same time of day.
