Well, Friday got away from me and I didn’t send out my weekly e-mail. Here it is, better late than never!
Thank you all so much for showing up and meeting me for conferences. It was so good to get to chat about your child! My goal is to always be on the same page as you, and I’ve been so astounded by all your support and encouragement. I hope you all have a restful fall break! I can’t wait to see your little ones on Wednesday.
Reminders
CULTURES/HOLIDAYS: Send me an email and let me know your child’s cultural background! One of Colorado’s first grade standards is that students need to be able to identify similarities and differences between themselves and others and discuss common and unique characteristics of different cultures using multiple sources of information. Students also need to be able to know the difference between a map and a globe. I like to do an ongoing social studies unit throughout the school year where students get to learn about the continents and different countries within those continents. It’s fun to also highlight our own heritage and talk about what we celebrate at home that has to do with our cultural history. I’m starting to design my lessons, but I’d love your input. Do you or your child have immediate family from a different country? Do you or your child speak another language that I can highlight? What holidays and traditions does your family celebrate at home? Please e-mail me back and let me know. I’d love to have students have ownership of their learning and get excited about learning through being experts on the different countries and cultures we’ll start learning about and being able to share with students their culture.
FALL PARTY/PARADE: Our costume parade will be on 10/31 at 2:15 pm. Family members should line the blacktop area leading from the west side of the building to the main office entrance. Everyone can wear a costume, but no adult masks please. We will be having a classroom party beforehand at 1:00 PM. All adult family members are welcome to come and join us, but please no siblings. It gets a little chaotic when extra little bodies are in the classroom. If you want to help please email [email protected].
FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT: Join us on Saturday, November 3 for an Inspire family movie night in the gym! We will be showing Disney/Pixar's Coco! Doors open at 5:45pm and the movie starts at 6pm. The PTO will provide popcorn, but feel free to bring dinner, snacks, blankets and camping chairs to get comfy! Kids and adults welcome to come in PJs!
NEXT DOOR FUNDRAISER: Join your inspire families on Monday October 29th from 5-6 PM for another restaurant night at Next Door (10155 E. 29th Dr. #106 Denver, 80238)
Door Eatery is giving back 50% to Inspire on all Inspire orders! This offer is good for dine-in ONLY, on all food and drink, including alcohol. Please register for the event at the following link: https://inspireelementary504u.eventbrite.com
