The snow made for some fun recess days! I just love getting your kids all bundled up to go play out in the snow. They just love it!
Our class has been doing awesome work! In reading, we’ve gotten the hang of taking AR (accelerated reader) comprehension quizzes on the computer. These are comprehension quizzes on the computer that kids can take. They’re quick 5 question quizzes that ask your child questions about stories they read. I told kids that if they write down titles and author of books they’ve read at home on a piece of paper, they can take quizzes on those as well. Students have reading goals and if the meet their goals, they will get to eat lunch in the classroom and watch a movie before the holiday break. Keep up the good work of reading with your kid at home. While reading with them, ask them questions about what they read to help them remember. Then you can write the title of the stories you read with them to take AR quizzes at school and bring them closer to meeting their reading goal.
*REMINDERS*
RED FOLDER: RED Folders are due tomorrow. The folder should only take about 20-30 minutes a night. Students should be doing about 5-10 minutes of Math practice, 10 minutes of word practice (they can choose from the nonsense words, poem worksheet, spelling words, sight words, or sight word sentences) and 10-15 minutes of reading with you or another person. Log books and sight word practice in their monthly reading logs. Kids who read every week with their families get a pizza coupon at the end of the month!
COLD WEATHER: Cold weather is on the way! Please write your child’s name inside their coats and instruct them to store their hats and gloves in their coat pockets for. It is your child’s responsibility to keep track of their winter gear (I will do my very best to help out as well).
BOOK ORDER: The book order for November is going home today! If you are wanting to order any gifts for your child for the holiday season, get them in this November. If you do order books that are a gift, e-mail me, and I can get it to you without your child knowing! It is due Tuesday November 21. You can order through my website: mssandberg.weebly.com.
