We are on the home stretch until the holiday break. The kids seem to be super excited! Next week, we’re going to be doing a Social Studies unit on Holiday Traditions around the world. As part of that, a letter went home today, to have you create a hanger mobile with your child; decorating it with symbols of how your family celebrates a special Holiday this season. We will be doing different writing, reading and math activities around this theme. It’s going to be a fantastic week. I’m looking forward to it.
*Reminders*
Next Week’s Specials:
Mon: Music
Tues: Science Lab
Wed: P.E., Library
Thurs: Art
Friday: Technology
No school December 21- January 1. School will resume on Monday January 4.
RED FOLDERS: Folders are due tomorrow. Over the break, I am not requiring any sort of homework, but I will send your child’s RED folder back home next Friday with a fun packet of activities for your child to do over the break (especially those times they get stir crazy).
HOLIDAY MOBILE: We are asking all class members to create a holiday traditions mobile (on a hanger) to share with the class. You can decorate the hanger with holiday pictures, ornaments, drawings, favorite holiday recipes, student made crafts, or anything to portray some holiday traditions from your family. Mobiles are due as soon as you’re done! Please feel free to turn them in early to make our room festive! I would like all mobiles to come in Wednesday December 16 at the latest. Thanks for helping your child complete this.
MOVIE AND PAJAMA DAY: I will be showing The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe on Friday December 18. Students may wear their pajamas to school that day. We are close to finishing up the story and are excited to compare/contrast the difference from the book and movie.
HOLIDAY PARTY: We’re going to have a celebration on Friday December 8 from 9:15-10:45. Students will do different craft stations. It should be a lot of fun. Parents are welcome to come in and participate in the celebration with their child. The more the merrier! Please let me know if you will be stopping by.
