Happy Groundhog’s day (tomorrow)! Today we are going to make predictions about whether the groundhog will see it’s shadow or not! Then tomorrow for Friday fun we are going to make a fun Groundhog’s day craft. Make sure your child has their math packet finished and books or sight word practice, or cvc practice, or spelling practice logged on their reading logs so they can have Friday fun with us! The class is generally pretty great at getting all their responsibility homework done every week! Thanks for helping your child be responsible. I try not to give too much homework, so if it’s ever a burden for your family, please let me know.
Reminders
NO SCHOOL: There is no school Monday February 19.
AFTER SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION: If your child is going home a different way after school, please e-mail me or leave a note in your child’s yellow folder and call the
office (970-488-6725) to let them know. I have had some parents lately tell their child to tell me, or not let me know. This causes confusion for me and your child at the end of the day, and it’s safest to always let the office know. Thanks so much!
READING GOALS: We have new reading goals. Students who meet their reading goals will get to eat lunch with me in the classroom and I will give them a special dessert on that day as a celebration. Students meet their goal by reading books and taking 5 question comprehension quizzes on the computers. Student can take quizzes on books they read at home, they just need to either bring the book to school with them, or a piece of paper with the book title and author.
5210 CHALLENGE: The schools on the move challenge sheet log is going home today. During the month of February students and staff will be tracking their 5210 habits with the goal of getting at least 60 checks to earn a t-shirt. Your child will be logging if they eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day, have 2 hours or less of recreational screen time, 1 hour or more of physical activity, and 0 sugary drinks!
BOOK ORDER: are going home today. Please return book orders by Friday February 16.
VALENTINE’S DAY LIST: I sent home a pink list today with all the kid’s names for your child’s Valentine’s Day cards. Students can bring cards to class on Wednesday February 14 and we’ll pass them out to our friends that day. Please make sure students have a card for every student in the class.
