Happy belated Valentine’s Day! Our class had a wonderful time at the party! A huge thank you to Jason and Kat for helping to plan the party! What a fun time to be able to just enjoy the party with all your children.
Reminders
NO SCHOOL: There is no school Monday February 19.
READING GOALS: We have new reading goals. Students who meet their reading goals will get to eat lunch with me in the classroom and I will give them a special dessert on that day as a celebration. Students meet their goal by reading books and taking 5 question comprehension quizzes on the computers. Student can take quizzes on books they read at home, they just need to either bring the book to school with them, or a piece of paper with the book title and author.
FIELD TRIP: We are taking a field trip to the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery on Thursday March 1, 2018. Field trip forms are going home today and need to be signed and returned. We are hopefully going to get a grant that will cover the field trip, so unless I let you know closer to the date, the field trip costs should be covered. We will leave at 9:10 that morning and arrive back in time for lunch at 12:15. I can take 5 parent chaperones. If you want to chaperone, please e-mail me ([email protected]). I will let the first 5 parents who express interest come ride the bus with our class!
SIGHT WORDS: Many parents have asked about the sight words. I test your child every month. When they are able to read all their sight words without sounding out any words, I will send home a new sight word list in their homework folders. Once they’ve mastered the 3rd grade words, there are no more lists and they have completed all their sight words! Your child will receive a certificate when they have completed all their sight words.
5210 CHALLENGE: The schools on the move challenge is happening. During the month of February students and staff will be tracking their 5210 habits with the goal of getting 60 checks to earn a t-shirt. Your child will log if they eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day, 2 hours or less of recreational screen time, 1 hour or more of physical activity, and 0 sugary drinks!
BOOK ORDER: Went home last week. If you want to order books for your child, please return book orders by tomorrow, Friday February 16.
