It’s been an event filled week! Tomorrow is our read-a-thon and we’re so excited for a fun filled day! Kids can bring in 1 stuffed animal tomorrow to read with. They may also bring in any of their favorite books to read! Hopefully you all got my e-mail about the moby max math challenge for March. More information about the competition are below in the reminders. We also started our science experiment for the Science Fair. We have planted cucumber seeds and are observing whether they grow best in humus, clay, or sand soil.

READ-A-THON: The Cat in the Hat is Coming Back! The 11th Annual Tavelli Read-a-Thon is tomorrow! I’m planning a fun day filled with reading for your child. Your child may bring 1 stuffed animal as a reading buddy and any of their favorite books to school tomorrow.
FIELD TRIP: We’re taking another field trip! We are going to the environmental learning center to do a science project and learn more about rocks and soil. It will be on Tuesday April 5. Permission slips will be going home soon. We were able to get a grant that covers the full cost of the field trip and the busses! So, this trip is free! I will need 5 chaperones to come along with us. If you are interested in chaperoning, please e-mail me ([email protected]) or stick a note in your child’s Thursday note. I will be letting parents who didn’t get to chaperone on this last trip have the first opportunity to chaperone on this trip. If you chaperoned on the last trip and want to chaperone again, I can’t promise you a spot on the bus, but still let me know.
MOBY MAX MATH CHALLENGE: Is a fun math competition, your student is competing in the MOBY MAX challenge. They can do Moby Math at home. I sent home the login information on Wednesday. If you don’t know where to go, your child knows how to find Moby through Tavelli’s website: (www.tavellielementary.org) If your child does Moby Max at home, they may do it in place of Math IXL (for all of March). We will try to do Moby Max here at school, too, but without classroom sets of computers, we are limited to our 1 time in computer lab to focus on this. Each day we will announce the class from each grade level (Grades 1-5) that solves the most problems. That class will get a lovely certificate to proudly display outside their classroom. The winning student for the day will have their name announced and will receive certificate and a small gift bag with pencils and a small prize. Each Monday, we will announce winners for the previous week. The winning class in each grade level will receive a certificate and a popcorn party. The winning individual for the week will receive a certificate and a larger treat bag. At the end of the month, we will announce the overall winners. The class that completes the most overall will win a pizza party. The individual that completes the most will have the honor of serving as the principal for the afternoon.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful child with me. Have a lovely weekend.
Sincerely,
Ms. Sandberg
