We are slowly winding down the school year and are slowly getting through all the assessments we need to do! It’s a big growth the kids need to show; especially in reading, and I’ve been quite pleased with the growth they’re all showing. We had a full house in the classroom for most of the days this week. I just love when everyone is here. It makes our classroom family pretty special.
*REMINDERS*
HOMEWORK: We are ending up the school year pretty quickly. That being said, your child will no longer have spelling lists to do for the rest of the year. I would still like them to be reading and doing Math IXL or Moby math every night (Monday-Thursday) to keep up with responsibility in and outside of class. I will give out a reading prize for the May reading log filled out the last week of school, and kids will continue earning Friday fun for doing Math IXL, moby math and reading.
SUMMER BIRTHDAYS: I am planning on celebrating all the June birthdays in April and the July birthdays in May. Here’s your child’s birthday celebration day. If you want to bring a snack in please let me know in advance, however, the weather is so lovely, that extra recess would be preferable.
Rahman- May 9
Gavin- May 16
Tristan- May 18
Mateo- May 22
LAST DAY OF RUNNING CLUB: If your child is in running club, it will wind up its season on Wednesday, May 10. Runners will receive recognitions as part of this last meeting.
BOOK ORDERS: The last book order of the year is going home today. They are due tomorrow, so that I can order the books and they’ll arrive before the end of the school year. You can order through my website: http://mssandberg.weebly.com/scholastic-book-orders.html
BIKE/WALK TO SCHOOL: May 10 Is Walk or Bike to School Day! – Plan on walking or riding your bike to school Wednesday, May 10th. Mr. Deck will be on hand on the basketball court on the northwest side of the building to hand out goodies to all our walkers and riders.
SUMMER BLAST OFF: Mark your calendars for the Summer Blast-off Party on Thursday, May 25th from 5:30 to 7:30. This free event is full of fun with a performance by Little Kids Rock, food trucks and bouncy castles. Don't miss out on the party of the year!
END OF YEAR: If your child will be gone at any point this last month of school, PLEASE let me know in advance. I have a lot of supplies and stuff I want to send back home with them, along with their writing journals and such. Whatever school supplies we didn’t use this year that your child brought, I will send back home with your child at the end of the school year so they can use them next year.
LETTER: I sent home a paper for you last week to write a special end of the year note to your kid. Please fill it out and return to me no later than Monday May 15. I will add it to their first grade memory books. If you need another sheet, let me know.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful child with me. Have a lovely weekend.
Sincerely,
Ms. Sandberg
