Picture day was this week and it was fun to see all your children smile and laugh as the photographer gave them goofy names! We got a lot done this week. We were most excited to finish our very first chapter book, “The Magic Finger” by Roald Dahl. I love read-aloud with your child after lunch. They get so captivated by the story. Thank you to all of you who came to “back to school night.” I hope all the information wasn’t too overwhelming. If you ever have any questions, please let me know. I’ve really appreciated all the notes, e-mails, and phone calls I’ve received from parents. It really helps me to get a better grasp on how to help your child as I get to know them.
Slowly, our class is getting to know each other and students are becoming good friends to each other. As your child has settled into the rules and routines of school, I have been able to let go of the reigns and we’re getting more done with our days. Less time is spent on going over rules and classroom procedures! I hope you are finding your child coming home excited about school. We are definitely starting to do more in the classroom.

READING RED FOLDERS: Please remember to read with your child for at least 10 minutes a night. This will really help your child become a lifelong learner and gives you quality time with your child. When you read with your child, make sure to have your child color in a hat on their reading logs for each book read. Reading logs are due back at the end of the month. Practicing the sight words, letters and letter sounds for 5 minutes counts for coloring in a hat.
