The bug has hit our classroom! I’ve had kids out a bunch, and we all have been a bit sniffly (myself included). I guess it’s time to build back up that immune system we all lost over the summer. Make sure your child is drinking plenty of fluids and getting plenty of sleep to help fight all these germs. Hopefully next week we’ll all be healthier!
We finished our first chapter book read aloud book the week: The Magic Treehouse: Dinosaurs Before Dark by Mary Pope Osborne. I am loving reading aloud to this group of kids. They are so attentive, and remember a lot of the story! We have started reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, as a class. I am excited to share so many wonderful children’s chapter books with your child here at school. I told the kids that if they work really hard at reading, they’ll be able to borrow my extensive collection of chapter books in the back of my classroom.
Reminders:
RED FOLDERS: Red reading homework folders will be going home next week! I will talk your child through all the routines of reading and doing math IXL every night and explain it more in depth at parent night.
Tavelli Family Duathlon: Is Friday September 16th @ 5:30 p.m. Come with your family, bring your bikes and enjoy an evening of biking and running with our Tavelli Family! I’ll be there!
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT: is Wednesday September 14 at 6:00 pm. Please make sure you are here, as I will be providing you with all the information of what we do in our classroom, volunteer opportunities, etc.
VOLUNTEER: I will be e-mailing parents today or tomorrow to start volunteering in the classroom. My primary need is for helpers during reading stations in the morning.
COMPUTER LOGIN: Help your child practice his/her computer login and password. Your child will use this number for various purposes throughout his/her years in PSD. I will expect them to have both their login and password memorized by the end of September. I am sending home a sheet with their login info. Their username is also their lunch number.
Picture Day: Is Tuesday, September 20nd.
BOOK ORDER: Is due tomorrow. You can order your books online by following this link on my website: http://mssandberg.weebly.com/scholastic-book-orders.html
Thanks for sharing your wonderful child with me!
Warmly,
Ms. Sandberg
